APT 195 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Have been offered a cheap set of Dunlop DZ 03G semi slicks, Just wanted any advise on whether they would be anygood for a road car ? Or should i just stick to normal tyres and not semi's ? Also if anyone could help me out i am concerned at things like tyre wear, wet condition performance etc. Cheers for any info Andrew
ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Not to rain on your parade but i wouldn't bother with them unless you plan on hitting the track for a blast. If you run them on a road car that gets driven regularly you wont see much benefit, (unless you like hitting the twisties on a sunday) Id stick with some decent road tyre's.. I guess it all depends on how cheap though

tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 I did 5000 Road km's on medium compound Hankook semi's and the tread depth hardly moved from new. they gripped a lot better in the wet than he Chinese tires they replaced, they warmed up well and made the lack of an LSD less of an issue. I have no experience on any other brand but they were cheaper with 10x the grip of the road tires I had so I give them thumbs up especially at the price you can get them for. pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 i have toyo r888s on my race car, i have done 5 events on them and they only just started scrubbing in. I have been told you can do around 10k on the roads in them before they wear out, i drive mine to and from track on the road and they stick very nicely. not that i really hoon around in them but you still get the feel of them sticking.
