Yep Dave - confirmed on my E39. Pinion underneath rack & rods tie in front of the strut link (so push)

Hello.

I havent done any mods to a rack before so I am looking at this from a no knowledge point of view. But to me the problem is that it wasent designed for a rack so why not look for a quicker box?

Maybe you have more reasons than lock to lock turn that made you decide the rack option.

I have a couple of questions:

- is a rack better/worse when racing?

- is the rack lighter than the box for racing?

- is there a technical term for the box?

A rack will allow fitting better extractors (headers) or a turbo further down the track. Generaly there are more ratios and better ratios in a rack than a box.
