pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2009 hey guys. i did a search but didnt find anything helpful. 1990 e30 325i. The temp guage likes to jump around from time to time, between 1/2, 3/4 and hot. If you flick it it usually stops. I recall something about batteries in the intruent cluster? or is it more like a bad connection somewhere? cheers oli

antil33t 90 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 Could be the brass nut at the back of the cluster, my fuel gauge use to dance about. tightning it fixed it.
bekker 7 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 My whole instrument cluster was going crazy recently, temp gauge swinging around etc. Turned out I'd partially unplugged the multipin plug on the back of the cluster when I was installing my bluetooth kit. Check all connections and groundings first before you start replacing the battery.
wolliver 1 Report post Posted November 27, 2009 my temp gauge has been doing this for ages, where abouts are the batteries?
antil33t 90 Report post Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) my temp gauge has been doing this for ages, where abouts are the batteries? In the cluster, you take the cluster out and pull it apart. attached to the SI board. Edited November 27, 2009 by antil33t
