antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 Wasn't too sure where to put this. But I'm removing my AC, ALL of it. but the Aux fan is basically strapped to the AC radiator thing. Should I make up new brackets and refit the fan? or will i be sweet without it? I was thinking it was bracketed seperately, so I was going to remove the resistor to turn the fan on full after the AC button is pushed, whilst driving in heaps of traffics. You wont need the fan for extra cooling dude. My cars temp never goes over 1/4 even in traffic
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 Nah take it all out. You don't need that aux fan, it isn't on cars without A/C anyway. It uses the Fan clutch.. I removed all my A/C from the engine bay up to the pipes entering the firewall. Then put a blank over where teh A/C button was and yeah, sorted. antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 that solves that problem! I've just got to remove the rest of the piping tomorrow.
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 After further investigation it looks as so the clutch in my old fan was stuffed.
_ethrty-Andy_ 2136 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 which would be why your engine died. maybe. delete the viscous and put an electric fan in. never have to worry about it again

_ethrty-Andy_ 2136 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 New engine has a mint viscious fan supposedly you gain 2HP by ditching that fan. probably in the same way HKS decals give you 5HP a piece though i dunno
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Yeah it is rotating mass and It does fight against the air to spin, So it would be depriving the engine of some very futile amount of power..
