M50NV cam swap

Recommended Posts

Anyone swapped a NV inlet cam to the exhaust side? M50NV inlet cams are the same specs as S50 exhaust, the idea is to swap an m50nv inlet cam to the exhaust side and get the inlet cam reground to s50 specs.

Im gonna give it a go tommorrow...

No .. but there is plenty of info on doing a similar mod with the Shrick inlet cams.. and fitting the original inlet cams to the exhaust position.

It's a common swap for the mi16 engine, the intake cam is more aggressive than the exhaust on them, when people move to a stage 1 intake cam they very often use the stock intake cam for the exhaust and call it a stage 0.5

I was reading up on this not long ago,

The m50NV intake cams are 240 degree duration. I couldn't find exhaust... But s50 cams are 252 intake / 240 exhaust.

So best setup is to swap Intake cam over to exhaust side and get a 252 shrick cam (or a 252 regrind) for your intake. Then you would have the same cams as an s50.

It's all on R3v anyways, Hard to find the threads though.

Arrgh, didnt get around to it....

Had some problems on the boat on saturday, genset crapped out, later on the port engine was down on power and taking ages to come on to boost.

Partially siezed turbo, I can almost fit that torch in the intake.

Process of removed warp drive unit, stupid yanks and their stupid placement of stuff, one nut was almost impossible to remove:

Anyway, hopefully have some time next weekend to swap the cams over.
