Driftit 2078 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Hey guys. Just wondering where some local Auckland places are for purchasing some interior heat mat/shield things. Similar to this stuff http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/heat_shield.php Or this stuff http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/lava_mat.php Reason why is I have no interior heat shielding and my exhaust heats up the floor (through the external shield) and melts my boot or shoes. Also wanted to fit some around the gearbox tunnel to keep the heat out a little. Wanting Car specific stuff. The generic stuff I found was a bit too bulky. DRTDVL 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) you could also look at something like this: http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/cool_foil_tape.php And just line the trans tunnel with it... I've got some of that ceramic mat insulation and the problem is with mounting it to the car. I was recommened to use the above foil tape to mount it. I got the 3M version of the tape from Auckland Engineering Supplies. Also off the heat shield products where to buy page: New Zealand RACEPRO Marketing, Ltd. 235 Kumeu Auckland Tel 64-941-222-69 FAX 64-941-222-61 Edited January 24, 2010 by DRTDVL
DRTDVL 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Also been looking at both of these: Thermo-Tec Kevlar Heat Shield http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com/ProdShop2....7&CATID=268 and Nimbus Lite Heat Shield http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com/ProdShop2....2&CATID=
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Bugger. Racepro. Will be a 300% margin on everything. I wanted some of the thicker stuff so I can put my hand on the tunnel without getting burnt. I might wrap the exhaust to help with the melting shoes and get some of that 3M tape for the inside of the tunnel. Some of the Nimbus light material would be great between the exhaust and body. Cheers guys.
User Name 19 Report post Posted January 25, 2010 from my experience - all i did was exhaust wrap down the exhaust to keep the heat down through the tunnel. i also tried some diy methods - i managed to get some of the free underfloor insulation/heat shield problem was it keept the heat down - until it completely heated up and then tell me about it - it took to long to cool down. Really wundering if anyone does have it cheap in NZ - Wunder what the Motorsport guys are running
