Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 The new that is meant to be coming in aside, will these tyres work. 215/40/17 on an 8.5 rim. 225/40/17 or a 9.5 rim. Alternativly, 215/40 all round They have 235/45 on them and not nearly awesome enough.
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Should probably add, going onto a "super low" e28.
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Go 205 on the 8.5 and 215 on the 9.5 and it'd be more super stretched

Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 ^^ exactly, he knows what he's talking about! I will keep it down lowish until I sort them fully. But you've probably already seen them. They are fairly un common. Oh and also they will be going onto a wheel which will effectivly have a 0 offset.
zenetti 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 What would happen if I put a 40 profile tyre on? Apart from speedo going out. not much on an E28. However if you go for a 50 series sidewall with a skinnier tyre you will get more stretch as the sidewall height is higher. I think you wil struggle to get a 215/40/17 on a 9.5" wide rim. We do have a bead blaster at work which helps with inflation if you need. No ones makes a 225/40/17 and a 235 will not give you much stretch. The Jetta we did had 185/55's on 8" wide rims.
