Need to replace my E36 328i tensioner as its bloody noisey....help ple

Hey people man its been ages since i been on here....

Well im wanting to change my tensioner as its making a ugly noise....

my questions are...

1- who can do this at wat price?

2- wat other things should i replace while doing this?

3- where can i sorce the parts if i was to do it myself?

not sure how cramped the M52 is in the E36 engine bay, but you should be able to do it yourself if you can turn a spanner/ratchet. Really easy. might be harder if the engine is a tight fit though. Repco or similar will be able to get them, not sure if you can get them cheaper elsewhere though..

I had to do mine not that expensive around $360 quoted BMW for alternator including tensioner, pulley and new belt, had it done for around $250 by the local, the bearing wears out and yes they get noisy mine was noisy for about 12000k before I got it done usually in the morning cold then went away.

Get Glenn to do it quick easy and relatively inexpensive job if just the alternator one.

not that hard if your resourceful and got time and some tools.

got my tensioner pulley from ray for $40. took out radiator, fan - you may have prob with this i just made a makeshift special tool for it to be able to take it out.. cost me 15 bucks and it works:D. and i think you will need a 17mm or 14mm socket i think, to take out the belt then the bolt. after that replace the tensioner and put it back together. all done

total cost: $40 + $20 gas + about 1 - 2hours of saturday morning.

but if your not confident in doing it or dont have the tools get glenn to do it.

oh and if you leave it and keep driving. eventually the alternator tensioner will seize up. burn up your belt and explode into your engine bay. happened to my uncles e36. lol.

yeah that would be the greatest mate if u could....wat times good for you...i gotta 11am start in puke...but knock off around 7pm

and im not sure which one it is lol
