Creaver 55 Report post Posted April 5, 2010 i didnt know that lsd was an option i thought it was not compatible with the traction control system I would've thought that if you chose the lsd option ASC wouldn't be available?
BM WORLD 1286 Report post Posted April 5, 2010 check with marty , he had a 3.25 lsd made up(for his e34 turbo project) with the 540i driveshaft flange so that one will bolt straight up
Guest Simon* Report post Posted April 5, 2010 what sorta revs you running ray 6th at 100 ks.... Mine is about 2100 rpm i didnt know that lsd was an option i thought it was not compatible with the traction control system I would've thought that if you chose the lsd option ASC wouldn't be available? Not sure how it would have come from factory, but seeing as ASC is switchable in mine, no drama.
twisted 45 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 My 540iA has an LSD and switchable ASC from factory.
Creaver 55 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) It has arrived...and let's say I am VERY happy about the shipping costs. UNDER half of what I was expecting/worked it out to be! I am extremely please with what has arrived. Was told it has about 120,000miles (about 192,000km). A master/slave cylinder and release bearing were all included, so now I have samples to help when sourcing replacements. My friend is going to look into getting my single mass flywheel/clutch kit setup underway tomorrow now that we have the sample dualmass (which can easily be moved by hand and has about 1cm play). Size comparison: Some of the parts received (will need to look into sourcing the non-compatible LHD/RHD parts) Comparison of auto and manual cross members Unfortunately the shift boot isn't even close to matching Edited April 12, 2010 by Creaver - STOK3D
antony 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 What are the chances a Manual 535i or 525i centre console would work? Loving the work, exactly what I think I'd do if I owned a 540i.
Creaver 55 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 I believe it's all a direct swap between the e34's. Just a mission trying to find the correct trim, let alone a manual e34

Creaver 55 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) Awesome Boris - PM sent! Yeah Brent - was after a wooden one. Boris's surround covered in my Grey leather would be nice though and that is the path I will be looking to follow at this point Edited April 12, 2010 by Creaver - STOK3D

Guest Simon* Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Awesome Ian! Things are definitely progressing!! I see you don't have an ASC switch in the centre console so the M5 one will fit Here's mine
Creaver 55 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Your interior looks very tidy Simon. Straight swap you my AWESOME 4spoke steering wheel? We all know more is better (eg. 6 forward gears) ASC.....who needs that? haha. That was going to be the next problem, finding one without an ASC cutout

mr E34 11 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 ASC.....who needs that? haha. That was going to be the next problem, finding one without an ASC cutout You could cut the cnr of the M5 console on a band saw to suit ASC switch if need be, maybe check it out first before the deal is done? Guest Simon* Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Yes and no need for woodgrain insert either as you get the little compartments in the M5 one. I was keen on one until I realised I'd have to cut for the ASC switch
mr E34 11 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 OK all clear now, what would be easier if you just turn up with a bank cheque for the 535is/540is & you don't have to muck around with your beast. :D
