tire 10 Report post Posted April 7, 2010 Long story short, the thread on the passenger side end of my brake bar is forked. I've been trying to gently re thread it with a die for the last hour or so but I'm not having any luck - it keeps wanting to run cross threaded. Its m10 x 1.5 Besides removing the steering column and heater box (to be able to replace the brake bar), what can I do? I just don't have the experience to use this die properly. I will pay someone to come and fix the thread if they are willing. Pics:

Hartage 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2010 The bar is threaded left hand at one end, right at the other if i remember, to allow the adjustment of the pedal and booster. You are probably trying to match left to normal (right hand ) threads. My advice would be to cut the 2 or 3 threads off and put it back, its normally got lots of spare on the end. +1 How did you do that Max ?...what were you trying to do ?? tire 10 Report post Posted April 7, 2010 Fixed! Left hand thread it is. One of those situations where a little thought would have saved me a day of stressing. oh well. Thanks to John for calling it first and Glenn for being helpful on the phone.
