If you remove the cluster yourself, Robinson Instrument Services in Sale Street Auckland would be able to fix it for you. Probably cost $150-200

I just experienced the same problem (plus intermitten rev counter and SI lights) with the E30 I recently bought . After a few late evenings at work resoldering all the joints and replacing the SI batteries I still had no joy. If they have just only just died on you start with reflowing all the solder joints as this may cure it.

For me however I had to go buy a new unit from a wreckers as this proved more cost effective.

Guage problems and fixes are well documented on the internet, just depends how "hands on" you are.

I have a VDO M20 KMH speedo cluster for sale if you don't have any luck. Easy way to do it.

My UK's odometer has also stopped. It hasn't bothered me too much

Buy a new cluster man. My speedo stopped working (stripped speedo gears) and the temp gauge was wildly inaccurate. I bought a new cluster for $20 and presto everything works great.

ps. keep your old one so you can prove k's when you sell. Otherwise alarm bells will ring for any potential purchaser.
