bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted June 7, 2010 So over the past 18 months with my E36 I have done almost everything under the sun to make the paint look mint. Lots of trial and error but now my paint is finally just how I like it. So I made this thread for other people to show off the end product of a lot of elbow grease up close.. Here are a few of mine, post away

Syxx 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2010 Camera's too rubbish to really capture the pearl but here's mine. Sorry about the size, it's not a very good shot of the paint itself but meh, best picture I've got of it recently.

bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted June 28, 2010 Yeah the car was 16 years old so I think it was doing pretty well for itself.. Umm sh*t I have no idea. I have about $600 worth of products in my laundry.. All sorts of different things that give different results.. I also use GardX... costs around $1000 for the dealer to do it for you

bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 Do you mean just the cut and polish or the actual paint job? because $1000 Paint job and a Dealer don't go together very well. Nah not for a paint job. Its around $1000 from the dealer for them to buy and apply the gardx to your car for you when you buy a new car. Its just a protectant for your paint to keep it nice and minimise watermarks etc... But i did get a nice $743 bill from the dealer today. Yum cant wait to pay it.....

Like the feedback, makes me feel not so crazy spending so long in the driveway on it.. I got some GardX you can have man That paint is immaculate Ryan. At some stage do you think you could share some of your secrets with the rest of us so we can strive to have such a great finish? Yeah I think I might do a little bit of a write up. Everyone should have mint paint, its not hard to do its just a bit of time you need to spend, the interior gets just as intensive treatment.. But if you do want some pointer or have a particular questions just flick me a Pm dude
