I've actually purchased one (NZ$40) but it will be a few weeks before it gets here.

Other problem is:

My 328 is a OBD1, the Galleto only works with OBD2 I think.

Might be a dumb question as i have no idea what Galleto is, I have a set of carsoft cable's if that is of any help ?? , or carsoft itself but don't know if that does a dump of the ecu.

Galleto is software/cable setup that allows you to dump binaries from your ODBII ECU. You use other programs to edit them such as WinOLS or TunerPro etc etc

None of these will show you what is what on binaries. To discover maps and other relevant data you need a lot of patience / skill and luck. Or lots of $$$ to purchase the checksum overlays.

Then you need need more patience / skill to do any good with it. + a dyno and Lamda sensors etc
