bellicose 9 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 Ok so i was checking out an M30 powered car (secret squirrel lol) the other day and it was blowing white smoke, no it's not turboed but it was the same as when a turbo shits itself. The smoke smelt like very old stale petrol, the car starts and runs ok, sometimes drops a cylinder when idleing then comes right again. It doesn't run hot and water level ok, no signs of water in oil. While it's running at idle and you take the oil fill cap off rocker cover the idle rev's drop 'bout 100. The owner told me, as the trans' is a GM Borg Warner the modulator diaphram is holed or cracked and therefore sucking oil up into the manifold and then getting burnt...............! Now i've owned many, many GM cars with Borg Warner box's and never come across this before. Any ideas guys? cheeRS, John.

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 Smoke or steam ?
bellicose 9 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 Smoke or steam ? Was pretty hard to tell, didn't really disapate (sp?) like steam does. Also, smoke / steam? started pooring out as soon as you started the car, it hadn't been started for 'bout a month before i got there. You could almost swear it had a blown turbo, looked exactly the same as a Mitzy Cordia i had when i blew the turbo.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 M30's are prone to cracking heads & blocks... which sometimes doesnt give a problem unless driven... with load the cracks open and do what this is doing. I had one once that we had to dyno to diagnose the problem. It went well too with the water injection.
