Apex 693 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) $80-100. If your out south I can recommend Papakura Mufflers & Performance Exhausts, guys name is Pete and he likes DB Beer. He did this for me yesterday. Sounds nice Edited August 19, 2010 by resident know it all
Tristan 338 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 Haha, sorry I really am not the greatest with exhausts and such. What exactly did he do? Sorry to be ignorant
Apex 693 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 He removed the back box and replaced it with two straight through pipes, this sounds great on my car as the biggest noise reducer is the centre muffler, was a bit more complicated than what you need doing, I just posted it to show that he does a nice job. On yours he will simply cut out your centre resonator and replace it with a straight pipe. So one hours labour and a pice of pipe. Easy. There are equally good places around town, im sure someone can sagest some.
dubman 39 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 Woolf's Mufflers. Charge 60 per hour IIRC, then material on top of that. Located Dominion Rd, towards CBD direction.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 Cheers, so it's a pretty easy job and most muffler stores will do it?

Apex 693 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 Woolf has a good name, have heard many people raving about them, they also supply and fit Remus from memory. M530i, have you thought about just replacing your rear muffler with something less muffling? If its anything like my old E39 it will have two back boxes, replace them with one and it will make some good noises. Would be worth having a talk to a pro befor cutting things out
zenetti 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) Your car will probably also have pre and after cat sensors so you will need to replace with a high flow cat. I am sure Glenn will be along soon to either dispute this or back it up Edited August 20, 2010 by zenetti
fatjoez 3 Report post Posted August 20, 2010 Woolf fitted the exhaust I bought elsewhere Quite hilarious Both times I went there they were telling me how half their business is from asians bringing in M5s m6s AMG Benzes and Audis to cut out the exhaust cats/resonators and make them louder LOL and they all sound absolute crap afterwards too strongly recommend not simply cutting it out. pay some money and get an aftermarket replacement
Tristan 338 Report post Posted August 20, 2010 So how should I go about getting a deeper, louder tone with my extremely limited 18 year old umemployed funds
fatjoez 3 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 don't until you got the money to get a proper replacement lol if you do a chop shop weld job you'll regret it they sound crap, even if you want louder, its not the kinda loud you want lol
