Home made strut brace

Recommended Posts

Last job on the list was a strut brace - what am I going to do now?

Brace was made by splitting a piece of 30mm stainless tube and then removing 12mm off the diameter. Clamped the 2 pieces in a curved jig and tig welded together. The result is an oval shape, pretty ridgid. Buffed and polished.

The end plates are 3mm plate cut, filed, brazed together and painted. Good way to spend a cold wet weekend.

Any thing is possible but I'm slow, lazy and fussy which means a commercially available item will be much more cost effective

Wicked. Could pass as an a/m item (from a dealer).

Wow, that looks like you have done a great job.

I honestly expected to open this thread and see something that resembled a dogs breakfast, but it is quite the opposite.

Nice work!
