Rear speakers in E36

Recommended Posts

Question for the E36 coupe guys and/or 4door if they are the same?

The standard speakers in the rear parcel tray boxes are nokia units. They appear to be 11cm? As thats not a normal size and i can't seem to find anything similar what has everyone else done?

Thanks!!

4" with strange 2 point mounts .

there are also 6.5" factory speaker units like these that came with the premium audio package and most nz new cars .

i have some of the 6 " types for sale if needed factory/nokia and sony type

or pick some of those 6"by 9" adaptors like these.

thats what i use and almost as much bass as a subwoofer

I just don't use my rear speakers at all.

I had a pair of 51/2" Nakamichi's fitted into the front feet wells, a pair of Alpine S2 tweeters mounted on each rearvision mirror backing plate, installed a crossover in the footwells then a 12" sub and amplifier in the boot. You don't need rear speakers with that lot, and as you have a coupe like me, you probably don't have passengers in the rear seat so who cares what the system sounds like back there, as long as it sounds good up front.

Running Soundstream sst4.0 in the rear boxes. Didn't want to change to IB rears as the air preasure from sub would pound the crap out of the surrounds.

About the right size for the small read ported boxes. These are reasonably powerful for a 4 inch. Sound good and clear considering the size. Just using them for rear fill.
