_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) When you take it to a specialist for a service it do they just change the oil or is there a filter i dont know about? what else do they do? if its not very time consuming i will do it myself Not really having any issues with it except i have to hit 3500rpm the first time the car shifts into 3rd each day. it usually shifts about 2300rpm on other gears. Also its done 160xxx miles (engine has done only 60xxxkms) so i want to take care of it before it gets worse or something else happens If anyone has any recommendations of people that i can get to look at the transmission in my wagon and give a quote on servicing it it would be great (E34 M52 520i) Btw before someone says it, im not going to manual convert the car. pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2011 mine does exactly the same re change into third, normally a trans specialist will do a system flush (quite different from just dropping the pan and changing the oil.) and replace the trans filter. unless theres an issue they dont usually do more than that. you can drop the pan, change the small amount of oil that comes out and replace the filter but you will only get about half the oil out so theres not much point really..
