Removing 4 x cats from the M62tu exhuast

So it appears that most M62tu powered cars are equiped with 4 cats. In an effort to free up the exhaust flow a bit, can the DME be re-coded in a way to be say, a non-cat version, or is there a way to trick the DME in to thinking the cats are still present?
