BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2011 Hi Y'all. I'm curious, my baby has a genuine 1 lady owner e30 320 with original gold rims, 14's I think? Well She wants to do the 17's look... So i been seeing lots of 2nd hand mags on ebay, off various makes and models, some look okay, but they all reasonably cheap, people upgrading newer model cars etc. If we got some of these conversion spacers, dunno how wide they are, negligible? stud depth? We can change it to 5 stud... get the idea? But what will fit and what wont in terms of height and offset/ Shucks I may as well buy her a set of springs and struts too, I'm a generous daddy! This is WA, we dont have WOF's for cars here, drive them til they drop! Dont bore me with technicalities, which models would fit if it were a 5 stud and possibly wider? offset? This shite confuses me...
AN E30 Fan 1 Report post Posted May 24, 2011 Well. What is the acutal stud of these wheels? 5x120? 5x114.5? 5x108? 5x100? Until you actually give us more details on the 'conversion spacers' aswell as more details on the wheels, no one will be able you tell you if they fit. This thread has fail. Thats why I seldom come to this site, cos of dicks like u!I'll make it simpler... If an e30 were 5stud, what size wheels would fit like 17's? Any offsets like e36 that won't fit? I don't have any 'acutal' wheels, I'm looking for an answer from somebody perhaps has done it already. E 30 my 21 yr old daughters car. Trust me to hit the PG section. Can any grown ups help me please?
sascha 17 Report post Posted May 24, 2011 Thats why I seldom come to this site, cos of dicks like u! ..... Trust me to hit the PG section. Can any grown ups help me please? Woah. Re- the wheels, are 4 stud to 5 stud adaptors really available? I might be keen on some if you can show me the link? What width and offset wheels will fit really depends on how thick the adaptors are. Easiest would be just to source some 17's in 4x100. I had 17x7 with 205/40's at approx et23 on my old e30 with plenty of room though so they fit fine

I wouldn't bother Sacha you have to re-cert your car if you put 5 stud adaptors on it. And they are normally 25mm, which gives you an awkward offset. Yeah I wouldn't do it unless it was for some super rare wheels that I could only find in 5x120, not really worth the money otherwise. Was just curious mainly
Lucan 196 Report post Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) I looked at 4 to 5 stud adapters before I bought the RS' Not worth it IMO, they're pretty expensive and besides the weird offsets the adapters have a weird 4th/5 nut that laps over one another and they're super thick because of the overlap, like AJ said around 25mm I'd say look for a nice set of wheels that are already 4 stud You need: 57.1 hub bore 4x100 PCD and an offset between 15-25ish depending on the wheel IIRC. I wouldn't go bigger than a 17x8 wheel, but it depends on offset, you could possibly hit the strut or guard wider than 8" Edited May 24, 2011 by Blackie
BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Saw them on Gumtree, tell me what you's think? Got a set of 16's 5 spoke, what she wants in any case... Tyres to fit?? 50's? 235's? for a 16" rim 4 stud. http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicle...AdIdZ278845903# Given these are about 25mm thick, what offset wheel wood we be looking at to fit with these? AN E30 Fan 1 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Ideally, youd would need wheels with an offset of 40 - 50. With thouse wheel adaptors fitted it will give you an offset of 15 - 25 which is the ideal E30 offset. Edited May 25, 2011 by AJ_D
BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 Ended up spotting these at the last minute, newbie on ebay, but got them after sale $300 delivered to Perth!! It's what She wanted 'chromies' or near enough to it, and 5 spokes. Guess 50 profile wood bring them back to about the same rolling height as 14 X 65's or whatever She has now. Everyone's happy...http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130521313670&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_922

BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 Looks to be a bit of dish on those wheels, how wide are they?Dunno, they for a early model 3 series, so I guess that's an e30.. Mindjew we were looking at an e21 last week, 323, 2 door $500 but pretty rusty. And we still got an e23 sitting in the drive. It's got e34 15's on it, got the old 17's off my car, see if they'll fit it?

BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2011 I'm not able to make much sense of this, But did you check what the stud pattern was on the ones you bought? What about offset and width? No, they advertised as fitting an early 3 series, seller says they will fit e30.can only be e30 or e21, only ones with a 4 stud! As far as I know they will bolt straight up! If they don't fit, i've wasted a days pay, and I'll sell them again!

BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2011 Doh! Wheels arrived, nice light rims and all, but 5 stud... Seller assured me they fit an e30. So do I sell them? or buy spacer plates. A quick measure, these rims are about 14cm from the plate to the inside rim of the wheel, tape measure and a flat stick... A quick look at an old e30 rim, a 13, off a 1.8 is about 10cm. Quick look on TMS and I can buy new 15's for $115 each, about $400 ozzie. $300 for spacers. Think I'll sell them and get sum 4 studs... Buying online grr... BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2011 Hi Y'all, after a few minutes solid research... I have arrived at a conclusion... The new rims are 16x7 ET33. std ET is 15-35. So about a 20-25mm spacer plate, 4x120 to 5x120 will see us looking sweet? Tell me if I got that wrong?
Lucan 196 Report post Posted June 4, 2011 E30's are 4x100
BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2011 Yup e30's are 4x100, ya got me there! lollies. A spacer plate converting 4x100 to 5x100 is what I meant! Actually what I said too! But, what's the difference between M rims and std e30 rims, besides above 4x100 5x100? Are they the same rims as all other 5 studs? Just the offset is different? Is the M front suspension different by much to std suspension? Is it an upgraded, ie later model, suspension? Cheers.
sascha 17 Report post Posted June 4, 2011 5 stud BMWs are 5x120. Might've paid to check the fitment before buying huh! Your call about the adaptor plates, I'd say sell them and get some that fit right up. More safe and more legal and less hassel

Your call about the adaptor plates, I'd say sell them and get some that fit right up. More safe and more legal and less hassel Duh, I know! Long story "will theses fit an e30?" ":yeah' okay'... Send them then...WTF $300 is not a weeks pay any more I don't live in NZ any more!! I can get hubcentric spacers from TMS, have them on my car, fitted 18's off an e53 to e34 25mm spacers, no problems at all... BTw here in WA we don't have WOF's, you can drive around with no exhaust, no brakes, huge rust holes, and you're fine, unless you get caught, then it's over the pits. Which is a death knell for most old bangers...
