lukep88 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2011 Hello my friends, So what I thought was a cam positioning sensor fault has actually turned out to be a cracked CCV unit (crankcase ventilation) - it's completely cracked off so a whole bunch of air is rushing in - apparently telling the ECU that the cam sensor is failing. Couple of questions - - Will I be wise in getting this from a wrecker? (I want to sell the car soonish) apparently they clog up? - Is it a DIY job for the basic guy with average knowledge? - Has anyone done it themselves? - Any words of wisdom? Car is a 1996 523i E39 (M52). Cheers, Luke
