E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Saw this on TradeMe a few days ago, and it rang a few bells with me. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=405362828 Is this the same car that was up for sale at, was it Turners? Was mentioned on here as being a re-shelled car. I mentioned to the seller that the chassis number on the LVVT plate was not an M3 but was in fact a 318is, and the plate was for the re-power of the body. No response to my question, but he has changed the picture in the listing and now shows a rivetted in chassis plate with a different VIN number. Somethings not quite right... and I'm not just talking about that engine start button!!
Smac01 12 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 There's definitely something strange - the VIN registered to the car via carjam shows a non-m VIN. (Which doesn't match the shiny riveted one in the photo) WBABE82060EU20688 Think this was the conclusion last time too.....
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Yeah, I spotted the dodgy-ness last time it was on TM. Was listed by a dealer at the time, then turned up on the Turners auctions someone said. Looks like it has gotten dodgy-er with the WBS* build plate added for further attempted authenticity. Pity the cert plate would undoubtably have conflicting chassis numbers now. It's a shame as it looks like a fairly tidy and complete conversion, and a nice looking E36. They should try selling it for what it is, rather than being so dishonest. JaseNZ 53 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Hell they need to learn how to spell to start out with.
Guest Ari Gold Report post Posted September 12, 2011 It's a seriously quick Evo, one wouldn't hesitate to buy it if one knew the whole story. The shell started out as a Japanese 318iS that was Mauritius Blue. Oh and he definitely didn't spend $1900 on a new radiator (EA28819 - Just keeping the WBS VIN in a post in case the auction gets pulled)
