mossline 15 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 Has anyone ever rebuilt an e39 540i engine before? Is it even do-able/ feesable and what sort of prices would be involved? Is it even worth it? Its an overheated engine that needs to be re-built I know its an electrical system nightmare to try and pair up an engine from another car so figured re-building would be the way to go. BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 just swap it out for another good second hand engine. easy enough to do. just use all your electrics and fit with new coolant system parts and check or rpelace soem of the rubber gasgets etc. not really worth rebuilding too many hours worth of larbour. and the bores most likly to be stuffed Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
