time to get another bmw. e30 time

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, been a while since I posted on here. On the past have had an e36 320i and e46 320i.

After looking in showroom at a few e30s on here I have decided to get another in the next few weeks.

Am looking for either coupe or sedan (pref coupe) manual 320i or 325i. Rather buy one for less that needs a bit of work to make my own, rather than spend bigger money on one that has had work done. Would consider an Auto, depending on how much a manual conversion is likely to set me back (if anyone can give me a rough estimate, or point me in the right direction to someone who offers this as a service I would be keen, have limited tools and space to do myself), but hopefully a manual will come up for the right price.

Plans are some sort of deep dish wheels, possibly bbs rs?. bodykit (mtech 2 maybe?) paint, leather interior swap (if I get a cloth one) and lowering springs to start with.

then will look towards engine mods and coilovers.

If anyone has a standard or standardish e30 320i or 325i, pref manual coupe but will consider manual sedan and poss autos for sale, feel free to pm me, am checking the for sales and trademe daily in the meantime, will have my car sold in next few weeks so will be a cash buyer.

manual conversion can usually be done for about a grand including the hardware :)

rule out getting a 320i, go for either a 318i or a 325i. The 320i is the worst of the lot all the weight of the 325i without the balls to pull it so economy is crap. only time 320i are good is in the raceseries were economy doesnt matter as much

Nah, rule out 318i or 320i... and just get a 325i... or a 318iS.

Ive had them all, obviously my twincam was the best E30, but my 318i manual was the next best, enjoyed it much more that the 325i, for some reason the 325i feels strange to me. obviously quicker though.

This assumes that any 318i you look at has a 4.1 diff or higher btw

Here's a few potentials to start ya off:

325i Tech 2 sedan that has all the things you mentioned done already (bar leather interior, but re-upholstered). BS member's car too. Save $ in long run;

320i sedan at a good price (I agree with Andy though, give a miss, have had both 320i and 325i);

a granny optioned but clean 325i;

or a ripe-for-conversion 325i auto coupe;

Have fun! :D
