E30 manual shifter linkage modification?

Recommended Posts

Ok so I am doing the old e30m50 swap, can't seem to source a g260 shift linkage so Im thinking just shortening And putting a twist on the one I do have (m10 manual) but I have been told this is apparently illegal to do? Is this true? And also, seeing as its some sort of aluminium alloy, does it take a weld easy enough or does it need to be tigged?

not sure why it would be illegal, would just need the certifier to tick it off, and youll need the cert anyway due to the m50 so no issue i see there. but thats just with my limited knowledge so dont take my word for it
