JaseNZ 53 Report post Posted February 1, 2012 Over the last week or so my oil level sensor has been coming on for a few secs then going off. A scan of the car is showing its defective and I know this sensor is a common fault on the e46's. Just wondering if anybody knows the approx price of these sensors. I see them on trade me for Between $250 and $160. Car is in for a service soon so might as well get it swapped out at the same time.

RustyItalian 11 Report post Posted February 2, 2012 Mine does the same. Given the cost I am quite happy to check the oil level the old fashioned way! As much as I like my BMW it is a pity they couldn't engineer the simple things to work right.
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted February 2, 2012 we can get a man to the moon but we cant make a simple switch last more than 5 years.... or maybe thats just the BMW parts department telling the developers to use substandard parts... too cynic? my_e36 43 Report post Posted February 3, 2012 Hope they are a lot more reliable now as the new BMWs don't have dipsticks. All electronic display through the OBC.
