The Exhaust Sound Thread

Recommended Posts

Guest Andrew

Since so many people seem to ask exhaust questions, sound etc etc. Post up your setup and a sound clip.

If your filming one on the street - make it in the middle of no where with no wheel spin please.

I think you can upload files less then 4 MB to here. Do two or three in different gears.

And please try keep each one less than 2 MB.

EDIT by Andrew so people know what gus had:

Gus' old 325i had stock manifold, dual pipes to a single pipe to a coby to a milo can.

Gus' M325i car had headers, duel pipes to resonators to Racing Dynamics muffler.

Sorry, this is the best I can do, but I know how much you all want to hear the M10, so heres my beast:

I have a 2 1/4" single pipe from the firewall back with 2 resonators of some kind and unknown muffler, courtesy of Glen :thumb: He'd know what it is better than me.

EDIT: It wont let me upload, its just a 400kb *.wmv file, any ideas?

I just went out and did a run down the motorway, but I can't find the f**king cord from the camera to the computer. Got up to 130 in 3rd before backing off, changing just before the redline in 1st and 2nd. Will try and get it uploaded later this week. Sounds good tho, for a dirty old M20 :mosh:

Could just do what i did, change the file extension to .mpg and then just tell people to change it back to original afterthey download it, rangi but it should work.

Hope this works...

Stock 525i, no need to do anything to it, sounds f**king grouse imo. Suppose the sound gets better with age - 220,000km :mosh:

Haha, if that was in my Merc, it would be doing 160+ by the end of filming. But the 2.5 does an acceptable job of making it move.

My E36 325 had a great sounding exhaust and as a result I never used the stereo - I loved the exhaust note too much. Now with my E39 528 I can't hear the exhaust note at all, so I use the stereo all the time.

Anyone else found that?

I don't have any exhaust noise :( . I could post some tyre noise ^_^ . From the dyno run.

As we do the exhaust mods, I hope to get a nice V8 sound.
