topcat 11 Report post Posted March 20, 2012 spent sum time with Gavin on Monday, had problems which need to be adressed, but theres bit more potential yet. spark blow-out was a biggie.and had a bit of boost creep-which is now rectified. should rev out all the way soon, but wont be able to check-as Gavin is moving. closer to us down here in the south

topcat 11 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 currently running an 8lb spring, which was on song at 2800,then crept upto 15psi at 5500rpm, in quite a progressivly steepening curve. 2-3 pounds creep i could live with,7+ is over the top think the 3inch exhaust is flowing alittle too much and the seperate wastegate tube probably isnt helping. will have another crack at it over the weekend. just finished fitting new spark plugs with smaller gaps,to fix blow out next is to install a 12pounder spring and cut the waste to vent to atmosphere, if im right, its all good to go for taupo
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 What Turbo & WG are you using?? That is a lot of creep, reminds me on my old Mazda BFMR
thorburn 121 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 I think your manifold is the main cause of your creep I don't think venting to atmosphere is going to solve it. How much back pressure does your exhaust really have Really nice build though. What ecu or piggyback are you using? teaser 46mm tial t3 gt37

What ecu or piggyback are you using? mani could be a part to play, but lets not riun a good piece of box section before trying the eazy stuff first-i'm lazy when i comes to changing everything, again. exhaust wise. 3inch from huffer to end, with an over sized muffler at the back, could neck down a section in the drain pipe to create a but of back pressure if all else fails. at 400hp+,i dont like to run piggybacks-stand alone is what i got
thorburn 121 Report post Posted March 22, 2012 I'm sure you can make the box section manifold work better. Is there any room to attach the wastegate to the exhaust housing. Like this:
