Hey Guys,

I'm heading back to Australia in June and was planning on taking my car back with me but have just worked out that it will cost me over $20K AUD in taxes and duties to land it. Basically it is marginal for me from an economics perspective to ship it back rather than selling it here and buying another one in Australia.

It has done 65,000 Kms and is in immaculate condition. It has APSports rotors and calipers and adjustable Bilstien suspension plus comes with the original suspension and brakes. Inbuilt radar system.

Is anyone interested? Price would need to be north of $80K.

Cheers

Paul

So the costs for import work like this. ...

Start with the original purchase price

apply the NZD - AUD exchange rate on the day the car is loaded into the ship

add 5% for stamp duty

add the freight and shipping costs

Add GST at 10% on all of that

Add luxury car tax to all of that at 33% for every dollar above $57K AUD

= about $20K AUD all up

It is a lovely car and amazing to drive .. intoxicating sound when you open it up

Good luck with the sale.

Yes I have been keeping an eye on the Aussie market, the thing that has put me off is the guy that had the one with 1500 kms on his CSL started at $150K AUD and is now down to $110K AUD (looks like he sold it now though as it is no longer listed) so that means mine is worth a fair bit less than that.

The 1 for $120K has been on since December and he started at $135K with 20,000 kms so it looks to me like there is no real demand at the moment there. There are 20 M3 CSL's in Australia as opposed to only 8 here that I am aware of.

You can do either but as soon as you get into depreciation and market values in Australia the Luxury Car Tax is ridiculous.

amazing car!! is the boot really made from cardboard??

The boot liner is fibre board .... definitely much lighter than the standard M3 boot liner but not quite cardboard

yes. I'm investigating taking mine at present. Prices in Aus are around the $48k so I should squeeze under the lux car tax thank god.

So I should just be gst, stamp and shipping & any compliance costs.

Hey mate was this Andrew Bryant's car? If it is the same car, I think he owned it for a month before selling it to you?

Nice car!

Hi yes I bought it from Andrew Bryant about 12 months ago. It needed a bit of work to get it back to pristine, it's back there now.
