antil33t 90 Report post Posted May 18, 2012 My dad just bought one... an XR3i Cabriolet.. Apart from it being a little girls car, and he should have bought an E30 Cab.. Has anyone had anything to do with them before? Seems to be a pain to get bits for.

E30 325i Rag-Top 2959 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 The ultimate hair-Dressers car in the Uk. XR3i wasn't a bad car overall but got a terrible reputation from the type of drivers it attracted. Pretty simple mechanically, the CVH engines were pretty reliable if not overly powerful only issue I can remember on mine was the hydraulic lifters failing. Fairly simple to fix. What's the hood like? Tended to get tatty quite easily and the electric ones used to play up a lot (if they were ever used that is!). Looks a pretty tidy example and very rare over here, this wasn't sitting under a sheet in Tuakau up until recently was it?
antil33t 90 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) Hood is stuffed, manual hood at least. We're having it looked at, or importing a new roof. and some nuckledragger has attempted to change the stereo and f**ked all the interior clips, broken interior trims and other annoying things. White wheels - hubcaps. 14" Hubcaps. I'm going to see if my E30's weaves fit it. She's just having some maintenance done, had no thermostat, a few oil leaks (lol) Yeah It's very rare it seems, and I look like a complete spanner driving it, but the check out chicks at work like it? I have to drive it all next week Edited May 24, 2012 by antil33t
tcbaurpower 5 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 No chance this was in CHCH yesterday? I seen one on the drive home hood down, guy driving it haha
deeveus 81 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 It's rare here but not in the U.K - you'd be looking at big coin I'd imagine for a new hood or any new parts, Ford NZ would be able to close early for the day if you ordered the parts through them...
antil33t 90 Report post Posted May 25, 2012 No chance this was in CHCH yesterday? I seen one on the drive home hood down, guy driving it haha no chance at all lol. He was going to take it to Chch. I find the only way to drive it is with the hood down, as the rear defogger has crapped itself (probably broken wires) so can't see sh*t cap'n. Oh, we know an auto upholsterer (our cousin) who would be repairing it, and there's places in the UK that ship internationally (brand new hood landed for less than $500 NZD)

LMT UK 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2013 In the Uk some of them rusted out badly others lasted well, I've had a few of the non xr3i variants and they were good cheap cars. Apparently there was a steel shortage at the time and ford cut corners using low grade steel, the earlier ones actually outlived the later ones, but sorry a longtime ago and I don't remember the exact years despite having had 4 of them. If you get stuck for parts and can find them in uk or want to bid on ebay uk pm me an I can help.
antil33t 90 Report post Posted February 6, 2013 Yeah, ours has a small amount of rust, it's currently in bits just had all the oil seals done on the engine timing belt, waterpump ect things like that. it's getting the battery tray replaced, as that's the brute of the rust it's got. Unfortunately it's had moron owners that have rushed changing of stereo's and things like that broken all the clips that hold the interior together.. and dad doesn't seem to be interested in importing parts like I am.
