Brady 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 Just bought an electric fan to put into my e30 instead of running the factory viscus/clutch fan, but I'm unsure of where to wire up to a sensor to switch the fan on/off. Would I need to buy a sensor and hook it into the radiator hose or could I run one straight off the block?
BM WORLD 1286 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 you can use factory bmw parts to make all this work properly i would use a e34 type front aux (a/c) electric fan they move much more air than most after market types and have 2 speeds then use a thermo temp switch (screws into the side of the radiator factory sensor place) off a early e36 318ti or 318is 318i that only uses a electric coolingt fan they switch in at 80deg C and 88dg C so you can use that to switch the 2 speeds. Part number: 61 31 8 361 787 have some if needed

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 Im with Brent on this one. They work really well the stock fans, one is enough to keep my Lexus v8 engine setup cool! (Although I've still fitted an original 20" hydraulic fan just for good measure)
Brady 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) Mine is the 1.6L 4 cylinder model so the 16" fan should do the trick. Hey Brent can you email me about the switch, I'll just make sure mine has the sensor mount first and then I'll buy one off ya.
