Williams BMW 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2005 Put some of these on the car, along with new Brembo plain rotors, about 8 months ago. Heaps better than factory pads and Repco Lucas cheepies. Far less brake and rotor dust. Good fade resistance going down Otira gorge and porter's pass etc. Pads/rotors are lasting quite well too. Haven't raced with them yet though, but with spirited town/country driving they work well. Wouldn't mind trying the Metal Masters next to compare. Greenstuff: $381 front/rear Brembo rotors: $430 front/rear.
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2005 I assume that price is supplying a set of backing plates for the compound to be mounted on. Looked into them, but bought the Mintex 1166 instead. David is fitting some to his E30, so I'll be interested to see how it goes.
Carl 3 Report post Posted July 17, 2005 (edited) Cain, are these mintex 1166 that you rave about a metal based race pad or a daily driver pad? I'm running metal kings for intermarque but I was looking to go down the greens line for normal daily driving. The metal pads are only usable when they've warmed up which just doesn't happen around town plus they squeal. I've also got some chapman pads to try aswell but they're metal based and have a heat dispersion groove so they look to be for the track even more so than the metal kings. Anyone got trade price? cainchapman 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2005 I believe a competition compound. I have found no problem to use them as daily driving pads either. http://www.racebrakes.co.nz/pdf/brake_upgrade.pdf or see attached file. Mine squeal a bit from time to time. Nothing major though. brake_upgrade.pdf
Carl 3 Report post Posted July 18, 2005 Mine squeal a bit from time to time. Nothing major though. The other downer is the metal pad dust makes the rotors look rusty
