Bimmer E30 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2012 does anyone know whats the name for the big piece of rubber that sticks onto the cars body behind the engine to protect the heat from inside the car? Is it some sort of sound insulation material, i know there is one behind the hood, but there is another one of a different harder material that protects the cars body from the engine... please let me know what its called as i need a new one. thanks. I had to replace the same thing on my E39.
