Brake light circuit error . E36 328i

So been getting the brake light circuit error on my little display screen, checked all my lights, they all work except for the brake lights. Was going to just take it in to the mechanics but was wondering if theres an easy fix I could do myself?

check bulbs , also the brake switch often fail , have some if needed

The brake lights have 2 bulbs each right? Im certain its not the bulbs some were replaced not too long ago and when I tested none of the break lights came on.

As Brent said I would say break light switch, common fault.

Sweet, ive had a quick look online and a tad confused on how to do it, Im quite a noob , would you guys suggest taking it to my mechanic? Roughly how much should it cost?
