It gives a quite detailed history of the company, especially the early years, and the various endeavours of the company, but ony focusses on what the authors have obviously decided were key models for various reasons. Models covered in detail are: The Wartburg Motorwagen (The car made by the company that was bought by BMW to provide its initial production facilities for aircraft engines etc) The Dixi 3/15 PS (BMW's first car - an Austin Seven made under license by the Eisenach Dixi factory purchased by BMW so it could start making automobiles. So yes, the first BMW was an Austin Seven, a British design, not Bavarian.
