Shady 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) When I put in my new gearstick gaiter, the old one had this round plastic thing in it but I cant figure out how to put it back in. I can post a photo if unsure what I am talking about. But its a small plastic thing that the gearstick went thru, and it was attached to the old gaiter. I just cant seem to put it on the new one. Im sure its supposed to make the gaiter stay in place and not slide up n down??? Any one know what its for & how to refit it? I can put a photo up if necessary, so long as the forum system allows me too... just ask. Oh and no, I cant find it on RealOEM website - it just shows the gaiter. Shady 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) Kind of does. I tried doing something similar to what you said. But it seemed to fiddly so thought I was doing it wrong. I will keep trying, cos Im sure it makes it look tidier. Shot man. Edited September 3, 2012 by Shady
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted September 3, 2012 put it on inside out like Jon (or Keren) said, and put a zip tie around it. in my experience the slip ring type things seem to have stretched some how. last two manual E30s i did this too and works well, obviously cut the "tail" off the zip tie before folding back over. dont forget to leave enough room for the gearknob too
