Why is my car running hot?

I recently had a coolant leak that I did a quick repair job using JB weld. The leak has stopped, but the car still runs hot, but not to the point of overheating. After driving around the block a few times, the temp seems to stop at around the 3/4 mark. I'm guessing it's either the thermostat or the radiator itself. I'm not a mechanic, but I am trying to fix this myself without spending too much at an auto repair shop. How can I know what the problem is? My car is BMW X3 2008 .How about the tool named Autocom cdp pro cars
