No name user 379 Report post Posted November 23, 2012 To be honest with you...... Your doing great for very low budget the biggest issue is the oil return unfortunately you've already positioned the turbo an easy place of oil return is the front cover but the turbo needs to be higher up, the next way is build a small catch tank under the turbo then use a vacuum pump off an diesel alternator run it off the main fan belt then suck the oil out and pump it back into the rocker cover. The other way is a lot more work you weld a pipe to the oil pickup in the sump run it to the front of the sump then run the turbo return into it, it acts as a scavenge and doesn't hurt oil supply to the motor i do this on turbo bikes works well but a fair bit of work is needed. samo455 7 Report post Posted November 23, 2012 what is the downpipe made from? looks like stainless pipe Where do you tap into for the water feed? somehow get behind the thermostat the downpipe is just 3'' mild steel used donut for the bends and water is just run thru the line to the trotle body not sure it i have thought that thru as the water may not flow unless the intake air is realy cold so il have to study that

samo455 7 Report post Posted November 28, 2012 it needs to be an inch above the oil level line you can if theres enough fall run it around to the other side OK I CAN GET IN THE FONT COVER JUST ITS ABOUT I INCH OF FALL BUT ITS VEREY COSE WHAT DO U THINK CRUNCHY CAN THE COVER BE REMOVED WITHOUT REMOVING THE HEAD OR IS IT TORQUED DOWN ON IT

topcat 11 Report post Posted November 29, 2012 i also have a low mount setup, with max 2inches of fall. the way i got around the problem was to plumb it into the sump and then run an oil resistant hose, bent round to face the back of engine. so far,no oil backing up problems. probably best if i dig up a pic and post (to expain my england better)

No name user 379 Report post Posted November 29, 2012 had to dig deep, but here it is,cheap option, and it works(so far) not sure what you think of it Steve, if theres enough fall from the turbo it can work but if you over fill the sump if you were going to have a play at a track day it could cause and issue you can also tee into the oil pickup itll act as a scavenge i still think an external scavenge pump would be the answer being that low, but no harm in trying the worst itll do is smoke all the time
samo455 7 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 ok i see links plug and play is m50tub25 only i converted my car to vanos just to see what it was all about i didn't like it that's why im putting the other engine back in the only difference i can see is i wire for vanos solenoid and a o2 sensor so why cant i use it anyone else troubled them self over this
thorburn 121 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) Non vanos have a different trigger wheel offset. If your going to change any wiring you'd might as well get another link and wire it in Otherwise there are a few people around who can make up 'plug and play' harnesses Vanos is far superior in my opinion but that's another discussion Edited November 30, 2012 by Thorburn
