Flow 1 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Hello everyone I've scored 4 sets of NGK Iridium BKR6EIX spark plugs especially for our e39 V8 brethren but they are compatible with any BMW that takes the BKR6EQUP (e39s after 7/97) Some of you will know that these come out on top in back to back dyno comparisons but most importantly they last a long time and new plugs can make a big difference especially after 80ks and also help prevent our coils from frying. Remember to put a small amount of high temp anti-seize on the threads (and no where near the electrodes!) They are $100 a set of 8 which is cheap, for bimmersporters only! I'm at the Metropolis in AK City, save me from having to organise postage and PM me to come and say hello and pick up. All the best Jason Edited January 23, 2013 by Flow

NZ BMW 368 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 Would these fit my E39?
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 Would these fit my E39? No... according to the NGK listing they are only suitable for BKR6Ek applications not BKR6EQUP as the OP has stated
M5V8 337 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 would these suit a M5? sorry i don't know what a BKR6Ek application is.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 would these suit a M5? sorry i don't know what a BKR6Ek application is. No.. your car takes a BKR6EQUP spark plug
Flow 1 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 No.. your car takes a BKR6EQUP spark plug Hi guys. The BKR6EIX is a common upgrade for the BKR6EQUP. I'm using them in my M62 (2000 E39 540i). Anything that uses a BKR6EQUP will benefit from the BKR6EIX Iridiums. Common feed back from people that use them is that they give slightly more low down torque. I would say that I had a noticeably smoother start up and idle. I can say for sure that if you have BKR6EQUPs the Iridiums will work well in your car. They should also last a bit longer. M5V8 337 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 now I'm confused... I would like to pick up a set... would these work or not. Glenn why do you say no?
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) I stand corrected. The NGK application book I have here does not give those as a replacement. We use Bosch plugs here Edited February 24, 2013 by *Glenn*
M5V8 337 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 so according to the NGK website the S62 motor should use BKR6EK plug. But they are a good upgrade for my motor never the less?
Flow 1 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) so according to the NGK website the S62 motor should use BKR6EK plug. But they are a good upgrade for my motor never the less? Hey Darren No your S62 takes 12 12 9 071 003 NGK BKR6EQUP as well. If it is time to replace your plugs these will work very well. If you want to get fancy you can index them to improve flame kernel development and further reduce technical miss-fires. Do some research to convince your self obviously. The M5board has heaps of info on these and other plugs. These come out on top from people in the know and dyno tests. The impact is slight so don't bother unless you have done at least 40,000 on your existing plugs and are planning to replace them anyway. In which case they are a worth while upgrade. I think I'm getting rid of these cheaper than standard plugs, correct me if I am wrong. 7 4-packs left. M5V8 337 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 cheers Jason. I'll have to check the handbook plugs are done as part of inspection II I believe. I'm not sure when that last was but the car has 90 odd km on her now and was serviced just before xmas. I'll check the booklet tonight and if she's due I'll flick you a PM. thanks
