Does putting the engine on an angle have any negative effects? Especially with oil flow? Looks mean though, add me to to the list of people keen to see it running

Cheers bro and hard the man crunchy pretty much answered your question. If you dont take to much slant out of it the less things you need to modify. Stand the motor up anymore than i have here you will need to modify gear shifter linkages, sump, and possibly the bonnet :)

small amount doesnt hurt

ive done mine alot more than you see here and redesigned the sump, the windage and oil pickup in the M50 is pretty rubbish the pickup sits 45mm from the bottom thats where the mess finishes and the tube starts ideal is 10mm off the bottom so i cut mine off and re fab the whole sump etc

Hey crunchy what cams are you running on your motor? :)

If you are wondering where to get your oil feed from here are some good locations, you may need to tap threads but if you find the right fitting there will be no need. I found on "some" not all m50/52 oil filter housings, bmw have placed two allen key bolts you can undo and use for your turbo oil feed. I have used one for temp and one for feed. Or you can simply tap the banjo bolt for vanos oil feed. Or make/buy a distrubution block that screws into the oil pressure switch loction. :)

It makes it hard when you dont have all the right tools and shyt, went and got some thick ass steam pipe to build the turbo manifold, all I had was a grinder and hammer. Took me ages to grind and cut but came out alright :)

Awesome work on the manifold. :) I spent days on mine then decided to scrap it and sent the car to sinco to have it built.

For my stock motor im using a cut-ring head gasket, the rings have groves in them which cut into the cylinder head allowing it to seal like a gangster bitch. MLS are good but dont want any issues so this is the way to go. On the good motor im running pyramid rings which are similar but hold alot more boost. :)

head gaskets aren't the only issue to why they blow them im running a stock gasket on my m50 its never given issue, my m42 runs over 20psi on stock gasket and done so for the last 30k

just my opinion

Hi all, well since my brother Arthur passed away in April of this year, he asked me to put his ride back to it's original state. I have yet to decide 100% on whether or not to continue with the Turbo build, in all honesty i am far from the imagination, and skill that my brother had in order to continue with everything he'd done before late last year. This year has been riddled with family and friends passing away left right and center, where to from here?? So yeah, denfinitely got me considering options now..

However, i will not rule out the dream, it would be amazing to complete this Project, it was a shared passion and dream as brothers. Currently nothing has changed in regards to the build, i have still kept his account running, no real need to shut it down just yet....?
