emal2 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2013 Help, I have just bought an e39 520i and it starts nice, idles nice but only performs on the first quarter of throttle and the last 3/4 throttle very little response. The fuel economy gauge moves very little from cruise to full power. To me it is just not getting fuel, do they run a fly by wire throttle/ any ideas will be appreciated, Mike. Also has anyone got a m30 3.5 litre engine for sale, must have wiring attached not needing the rest of the loom though as I'm going to link it.
charles28 138 Report post Posted February 17, 2013 Best place to start with these is, get it scanned for errors, that will show up which sensors are faulty etc. From memory there's one where the wiring gets damaged, might be the crank shaft sensor, or was it the cam shaft sensor, one or the other. antil33t 90 Report post Posted February 18, 2013 Actually sounds like an AFM problem, that's what my mates E46 was doing.... Get it scanned don't go and blow $230 on a brand new AFM without scanning first.
