Kevin3 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2013 I have an e36 with analogue heater and the blower resistor went a few months ago so I only had heat on power 4. I bought a new one a month ago and it worked but since a few days ago the heater is again only working on power 4. Just wondering before I go asking for a refund is there anything else I should check first? Thanks
hotwire 352 Report post Posted July 9, 2013 Current draw of the fan motor
Kevin3 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2013 I don't follow, what would cause that? More importantly any idea what would fix it?
hotwire 352 Report post Posted July 9, 2013 Check the current draw of the fan motor. Burnt/partially motor. Get a sparky to check
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted July 9, 2013 the bearings could be tight causing more drag which will draw more current . remove the fan cowling cover and see if spins freely or tight etc. also worn brushes in the motor
euroitalian 62 Report post Posted July 10, 2013 Blocked AC filter also causes high current draw and resistor failure....
Kevin3 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2013 Ok thanks for the help, will get an auto sparky to look at it
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted July 10, 2013 Oh interesting, mines done this so I can only assume the same thing is occurring. I better investigate before I replace the resistor pack, they aren't cheap!
