E36 heater and air con

Recommended Posts

Just had a new thermostat put in and the car is holding optimum temperature perfectly.

They commented though that the heater taps were very slow to react and would need replacing soon. If they fail am I at risk of overheating the engine or are the heater taps on a separate loop to the main cooling system?

I also notice that the air conditioning barley works. Is it usually just a case of a re gas or could it be something more sinister?

The car only has 98000kms on it BUT it is a 93 so its 20 years old.

EDIT: I have the dual sided climate but not the digital version.

Thoughts? I am in Chirstchurch

Won't overheat, just won't get warm in the car unless you jam them open. Pretty common thing on e36s
