Southerner 146 Report post Posted December 22, 2013 Hi all, My e30 starter motor wont disengage when its started and only started doing it one day. Its an auto thats been converted to manual if that makes a difference. I have replaced the starter motor itself, the switch on the back of the key and a relay thats connected to the motor which i attached a photo of. The black wire is earth, the blue is onto the tab on the starter motor which is live all the time with the power cable, brown is to another one on the starter motor with sends the power to the solonoid? and green is spliced onto a black with yellow strip wire which must be from a switch? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!
wolliver 1 Report post Posted December 22, 2013 not too sure if this helps but in my auto, there is the switch that allows you to choose S-E-3.2.1 if thats unplugged on mine while the engine is running the starter kicks in dont know if that could be doing something since yours used to be auto
