740i_Lou 5 Report post Posted December 26, 2013 Just a few questions about about some things I want to fix on my 7 series. 1. The water pump is leaking around the seal. I've read that this can be the sign of it being on the way out. Its not loosing a huge amount of water but I'm going to order the pump now. I was going to do the gasket and the water pump o rings while I was at it. Is there anything else that would be good to do at the same time? I've had a good look round the back of the valley pan and that looks to be sweet. Will be painting the rocker covers and throwing on new seals while I'm in there also. 2, When I get out and lock the car, the light on the transmission (P) stays on. It doesnt turn off at all. Ever. Is this normal? I swear to god I can hear a bit of a hum when I put my ear near to the tunnel. 3. The blower doesnt want to work on the drivers side or up the front on the demisters. I've seen that they are a dual blade design. Would I assume right that one side is busted?
yng_750 247 Report post Posted December 26, 2013 1. yea just replace the pump. if possible try to get a metal impeller rather than plastic. also if you need lubricant to slide the pump in use something oring safe like rubber grease. vaseline etc will deteriorate the seal in time. 2. pretty sure my 740i did the same, mine would light up the whole interior if you pulled the door handle when locked too, bit of a theif helper if you ask me. 3. yes duel zone climate control so something off, not sure what though

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 26, 2013 It should take half to three quarters of an hour for the "P" light to go out after locking the vehicle. This is sleep mode. If the light never goes out you have abnormal battery discharge, this should be 20-50 m/A
