E39/touring - suspected rear-right busted window regulator

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

My 1st technical post in this place.

My 1st bimmer, bought 2nd hand. Not much history about it.

Anyway, to the topic, my rear-right door window is seem to be stuck closed. Not sure what's going on. If I press the button down, seems like there's a subtle click from behind the panel. So, I guess, the motor should be fine. Or is not?

What is the signs if my motor is busted or if the regulator it self is busted? I haven't tried to crack open the door card yet. Haven't got any guts yet to do it. If its my honda, I'd be puling the glass window out.

I'm quite handy with tools and mechanical. But, when it comes to bimmers, I'm kind of chickened out. Worried that I make things worse without a good decent guidance. -_-

Anyway, that's all for now.

Thanks everyone.

Do you mean to change the regulator?

How much for a R/R window regulator? can pm me if you want.

Cheers.

Remove everything from the motor and test its functionality, if the motor is good like mine was, same thing click click, cable was coiled up inside housing - both sides!!! I ordered a left and right of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/261088431558..

Hey did you manage to get this fixed?

I'm having a similar problem.
My drivers window you can hear the click when you press the button and it sounds like it's going down on the inside but the glass stays in place.
The last time I used it it wound up really very crooked and I had to usher it into place back and forth a few times to get it to sit right.

I've very good at dismantling but no so much putting things back together.
Is there someone in the Auckland region wanting to make a bit of cash helping me out.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the response!
I'm very good at removal but no so much reassembly. I'd give it a go first If there was someone I could take it to that could fix it up should I make mistakes!

Damn, thanks though!

Actually, If I completely balls it up could I try get in contact? Would rather flick you some cash to help than going to mechanic.
