Buy a Sony HDR-AS30 Tim. After the GoPro you will be disappointed with the nanocam

Yea really good. Have used one diving in the lake and transition above to below water is awesome and clarity in low light is much better than expected.

Vs go pro

Cons. 720p vs 1080p ( looks good on a 50" plasma)

30fps vs up to 60 on gopro. So a little blur at very high speeds. Water skiing at speed was still very clear on rough water.

Doesnt come with sd card. I got 32gb micro sd from noel leeming for around 45.

Pros. Quarter of the price of go pro.

Comes with 4-5 mounts vs 1.

Go pro sell each mount as an extra.

Pretty good battery life.

More generic mount than go pro so new mounts can be found overseas.

Less risk if it gets lost at sea or something.

Im very happy with mine

Its all to do with resolution.

1080p will look much clearer on your TV than 720p.

30fps vs 60fps is to do with how smooth the video will be. 30fps tends to make fast movements look blurred.

720p @ 30fps is pretty basic. But not bad for that price. If you are doing any action sports I would look for something with at least 60fps.

The cheap Go-Pro or Sony Action Cam will be suitable.

GoPros were the best thing me and my partner ever bought. We use them for everything. Their versatility and durability is awesome. Diving, skiing, fishing, driving, shooting, tourist sh*t. It's awesome. Worth their weight in gold with all the photos we've had from them.

Before I bought them I remember thinking $500... Wow that's a lot. So glad I bought them though.

FWIW we have a 3 Black and the 3+ Black
