Aphexic 35 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 Posting this from the maintenance forum, I had an issue with the spinning ignition cylinder that left me stranded and in a bad spot. So we had a look and figured out we could drill and tap a small countersunk screw to hold the barrel in place, worked perfectly. Took photos with a potato as we went along: Drilled a small hole Countersunk the hole, this is important to keep it out of the way of the security ring The security ring detatched, we used electrical tape over the connection so the screw couldn't short it out Shows how little of the screw you need sticking through to make contact with the barrel Barrel screwed in place Now I'm still unsure if this problem came from the little metal block wearing out or if the security tab broke off? But this fixed it perfectly, barrel is tight and there's no movement. Just letting people know this could be a little bandaid to save them from replacing it. I still think this should be replaced, but this is working fine!

blonky 2 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Looks amazing man. I also had the problem with the spinning barrel in my E36 - only option was to replace but it's great that you found a better solution
Aphexic 35 Report post Posted July 12, 2015 Sooo I blew up the gear box in my mx5 (reversing it out of the driveway to clean the beemer) which has led me to potter around on the bimmer fixing the stuff I was previously too lazy to fix, bulbs etc. So I tried my hand at painting the M colours on the kidney grille! Be warned I suck at painting and painting those lines was hellahard. Last time the two were together for a clean! Kidneys disassembled! The painting studio '5 sitting there broke as f The finished result! Paints still drying so I'll take final pics tomorrow, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out~

Aphexic 35 Report post Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Been awhile, picked up a Rieger GT front lip, it fell off, then I put it back on again. Also picked up some ACS type 3's. I'm standard ride height on M3 bilsteins and holy @$%! the scrape is real, you could never get away with this lip on a lowered car in NZ. I've got the same lip on coilovers, and yes it has cracked a few times. Looks nice though!
Aphexic 35 Report post Posted May 4, 2016 I've got the same lip on coilovers, and yes it has cracked a few times. Looks nice though! Oh dude it has cracked in two places and have had to remount it 3 times, my work driveway is ruthless on this lip, I couldn't imagine it with coilovers. Been ignoring the ol' Beemer lately, hoping to make progress on a few niggly things soon
