jaimzthedrummer 24 Report post Posted July 5, 2014 Hi guys, I've bought some Toyo R888s for the track and need some rims for them. Heard excellent things about the Style 42s (picture below) so looking to see if there are any floating around out there. I understand the sizes I need are four 17x7.5" with ET 35-45 offset, or I'm happy to go staggered with 17x8.5", ET 38 on the rear. Thanks in advance. James. Boowhup 26 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 If you have access to that BMW FB page there's a guy selling some black wheels that look very similar, might be the same.
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 I've got a set (of 6) BBS RX204's (17x8 et38) track wheels I am not using anymore if you're interested...Easier to clean brake dust off than the blingin' Style 42's
Allanw 1071 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 be aware that there are one peice ones, and two piece ones. The 1 piece look average - make sure they have the bolts. Dunno if you're going to get the sizes you want though: http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ look on page 3.

jaimzthedrummer 24 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 Thanks for the replies guys. For some reason, I'm not getting notifications so only just saw them now! Man these wheel codes are confusing. Googling the options you've mentioned it seems that RX204s are the same as the Style 42 1-piece wheels, and the RS740, RS742 and RS743 are the same as the Style 42 2-piece wheels, but with different offsets..? Does that sound right? Maybe the only difference is whether they have a BMW or BBS centre cap? Glen, I'm interested in finding out more about your RX204s. I think they're the ones I was told to look out for. I posted up the photo of the 2-piece wheels just cause they look cooler..! PM me an offer... I'm in Auckland though so I'd have to price up shipping too. Jeff, are you saying you have an RS742/743 set for sale..? James
westy 614 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Dunno. All I do know is that my 740's are 17x8 E39 fit. Has IS20 marking too which I presume is the offset? Swap ya for a Getrag 420 V8 box...
kiwi328i 118 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 I had a set of those on my 328i. They were not light. Would you not want a lighter wheel that is cheaper to replace in the event you ding one?
jaimzthedrummer 24 Report post Posted July 9, 2014 I had a set of those on my 328i. They were not light. Would you not want a lighter wheel that is cheaper to replace in the event you ding one? I dunno man, I'm just going with the advice I was given (by a v. reliable source). I think if I started trying to decide on some wheels from scratch I'd never be able to make a decision! Anyways, I've done the deal with Glenn (E30-323ti) so I'm stuck with it now. Thanks all for your input. I've been looking for these on TradeMe for a couple of months... but 3 days on bimmersport and BAM... job done. :-)
