Power steering pump please asap?!

mine is rooted took it out today and hopefully i found why the steering is so noisy, i puled it apart and the shaft is all pitted and carved up for some reason looks like its been fixed before but not very well.. any one got one?? cheers

would it be worth it though, i thought it may be cheaper just to replace it as the oil seals are gone in it, i think the shaft would be stainless? and aluminium casing? its the aluminium thats gone..

Doing it yourself almost always works out cheaper, if you do it properly that is.

For example, if I send out a ram to be recoed to a hydraulic specialist shop, it's always about $300 - $350-00.

If I go to Seal Imports and get the seals, strip clean and reassemble it myself, it costs me about $40-00 in parts. Big differance eh. Seal Imports don't to rotary seals come to think of it, just power seals and o-rings. Saeco or precision bearings might be a better bet.

There are metal sprayers out there that can rebuild almost anything for a very decent price. A second hand one complete will be less hassle -- especially if the shaft is completly knackered, needs rebuilding and re croming.

Price it all up and go from there.

cheers guys just waiting till tomorrow as i may be getting new sleeves for it, $10!

Dad is fitting and assembling it :D
